SUMMARY:TEM Shabbat Services
DESCRIPTION:The Traditional Egalitarian Minyan (TEM) is a warm\, spirited service\, committed to participatory worship. It meets in the Gewirz Beit Am every Shabbat morning and on some holidays at 9:30 a.m. Led by volunteers with the occasional assistance of Adas clergy\, the TEM service offers a full P’sukei D’Zimrah (introductory Psalms)\, Shacharit\, Torah service (starting around 10:20 a.m.) and Musaf. We read the entire weekly Torah portion\, and a D’var Torah is shared every week by a member of the TEM community. Our service ends around the same time as Adas’s Smith Sanctuary service\, and we will join the the congregational Kiddush once it resumes following the pandemic.

SUMMARY:Tisha B'Av Services
DESCRIPTION:Join our Adas clergy for a poignant Tisha B’Av experience this year with participatory Eicha readings from our community members. Eicha\, the Book of Lamentations\, is a collection of poetic laments for the destruction of Jerusalem in 586 BCE\, and is read on Tisha B’Av\, regarded as the saddest day in the Jewish calendar. As we mark the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem through the words and haunting melodies of Eicha\, we take stock of the world we live in today\, acknowledge that which is broken\, and commit mightily to its renewal. \n \nJoin In-Person on Mondays\, Tuesdays\, Wednesdays\, Thursdays and via Zoom every day (Sunday-Thursday). \nSiddur Pages: Mincha\, Maariv \nRegister

SUMMARY:Mendelson Scholar Series: Rabbi Shai Held
DESCRIPTION:Jews have a God problem. Many of us struggle to talk about God– we don’t know who or what we mean by the word and we are beset by doubt in any case; and many of us have tragically internalized anti-Judaic stereotypes about the God of Judaism (e.g.\, “The God of Judaism is a God of wrath”). In our first session\, we’ll hear a contemporary Jewish thinker’s honest reflections on why he (sometimes) believes in God\, and on why doubt may actually be a boon to faith. In our second\, we’ll take a close look at the biblical idea that what makes God God and not a human is… God’s unfathomably vast love. \nRegister
