Prophets and Peoplehood- In these 3 sessions we will look inside at the relationship of 3 prophets (Moses, Elijah and Jonah) and their relationship to the people. We will focus on the questions: must a prophet be of the people to be effective? What happens when the prophet is not connected to the people? How do these prophets hold up truth to God and to the people? We will be looking at both the peshat (plain readings of the text) as well the midrashic tradition, hasidut and modern scholarship.
