Shared Living, Shared Power, Shared Future: A Conversation with The Abraham Initiatives With Shahira Shalaby & Amnon Be’eri Sulitzeanu
Shabbat Afternoon, May 9 at 1pm, Biran Beit Midrash
We hope you will join us on Saturday, May 9, at 1:00 p.m. for a conversation with two longtime experts in the field of shared society in Israel. Amnon Be’eri-Sulitzeanu and Shahira Shalaby are Co-CEOs of The Abraham Initiatives, a Jewish-Israeli and Palestinian-Israeli organization that advances social inclusion and equal rights for Israel’s Palestinian citizens by influencing public policy, shaping public opinion and demonstrating practical models for a shared society. We will discuss their unique approach to building the shared future imagined in Israel’s Declaration of Independence: complete social and political equality for all inhabitants.
Shahira Shalaby, Co-CEO of The Abraham Initiatives, is the former Deputy Mayor of Haifa, a former city councilor, and was among the founders of the Palestinian feminist movement in Israel. She has established initiatives and organizations working to improve the status of Arab women in Israel and has consulted for social change organizations on issues of leadership, strategic thinking, teamwork, developing and managing resources, and community work.
Amnon Be’eri Sulitzeanu, Co-CEO of The Abraham Initiatives for over a decade, previously served as Director of Marketing Communications at the Jerusalem Foundation, where he worked to initiate and develop educational, cultural, and social enterprises in Jerusalem. Prior to this, he served as an adviser to the Minister of Immigrant Absorption and as spokesperson for the Ministry.
