Masa HaTefillah — The Journey of Prayer

November 14 @ 10:45 am - 11:45 am

Join us as we spend 7 Shabbat mornings journeying through the heart of Shabbat morning davening. We will explore the words and their meaning, the kavanah (intention and focus) each prayer asks of us, the theology beneath the liturgy, and the choreography that accompanies it. Session by session, we’ll move through the service in order, uncovering what each section is asking us to think, feel, and become.

This monthly series takes one section of the Shabbat morning service each time — from the first waking blessings to the closing bows of Aleinu — and asks three questions together: What is the text actually saying? What does the choreography do to help or hinder the prayer? And what meaning might I garner from prayer work? No prior knowledge of Hebrew or liturgy required.
